Dogs ranging from mutts to poodles to golden and Labrador retrievers to Rottweillers gathered with their owners in the parking lot of the Fort Morgan Veterinary Clinic on Saturday.They were there not for treatment of ailments or preventative vaccinations but for a dog obedience class sponsored by FUR-ever Friends.For five Saturdays, with a day off May 3, the pets and their handlers will go through their paces under the tutelage of Pat Finley, who has been training dogs for more than 20 years.Finley told the group that the old methods of beating down a dog to teach it have fallen by the wayside; positive reinforcement works best for both the trainer and the dog."One of the things you always do is clean up after your dog," she said. Those who do not give all dog owners a bad name.
