Quad-City Doberman Pinscher Ranked Nationally For Agility Skills
Not only does Roxy rank 11th nationally among Dobermans when it comes to agility, but the Quad-City dog is also so well-trained that she walks away from a piece of chicken left on the floor when owner Laura Knoll asks her to leave it behind."If it was on the floor at home, she wouldn’t leave it alone," Knoll said. "But when we’re out here playing a game, she knows. She also knows that she’s going to get it, unless she goes too slowly, and then I’ll scoop it up, and that makes her run faster."The game between dog and owner is training for the American Kennel Club, or AKC, National Agility Championship that begins today in Tulsa, Okla. Roxy, aka MACH Breffny One Red Rosie RN, which is her AKC name, placed 13th among Dobermans in 2006 and 12th in 2007.In an agility competition, dogs are judged first on how accurately they run an obstacle course and then on speed. read more
